The Vilaworld Story

I am a distinguished Mining Engineering Consultant based in the Republic of South Africa, with more than two decades of experience working on major mining projects across Africa and beyond. I hold a BSc and postgraduate diploma in Mining Engineering from the Tarkwa School of Mines (now the University of Mines and Technology – UMaT) and am a proud member of the Engineering Council of South Africa.

My professional journey began at Ashanti Goldfields Corporation, where I had the unique opportunity to work with an Australian mining engineering consultant. As the first Ghanaian career engineer assigned to such a collaboration, I was exposed to a transformative style of teaching and mentorship — one that was practical, thought-driven, and focused on real-world applications. That experience reshaped my understanding of what education could be. I often found myself thinking: If this is how we taught children in Ghana, the country could change dramatically.

After six years in AGC’s Obuasi operations, I was transferred to the Head office in Accra to support feasibility studies for the Geita Gold mine in Tanzania. What seemed impossible at first was successfully completed in just three months — Geita would go on for being one of AGC’s flagship mining projects in Africa.

A Vision rooted in education

Through all my travels and technical work, one truth became clearer than ever: education is the foundation for transformation. I came to realize that if we equip the younger generation with a solid understanding of Mathematics, Science, Technology, and Engineering, they will not only thrive — they will lead.

We are in an era where robotics and artificial intelligence are taking over mechanical jobs. But these machines cannot function without well-designed programs written by people.

If our children are taught STEM concepts effectively, they will be able to code, innovate, and compete globally. Without this foundation, we risk leaving them behind. This belief led me to take action.

Why I Founded VilaWorld International School

From my own proceeds, I returned to Ghana to build something that could make a difference, a school that goes beyond traditional education. That dream became VilaWorld International School. At VilaWorld, we don’t just focus on helping students pass the BECE.

We aim at deep understanding of concepts taught. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that every child builds a strong conceptual foundation, particularly in STEM subjects, which will allow them to confidently pursue careers in engineering, medicine, science, technology, and beyond.

We believe that a strong educational foundation can solve real problems — including national challenges like illegal mining (galamsey), environmental degradation, and youth unemployment. Our past students are already excelling in their respective fields, a testament to the power of this approach.

To Parents and the Community

This school is not just a project. It is my personal commitment to the future of Ghana. I believe that when we teach children well — when we focus on understanding, creativity, and character — we are building a generation that can lead Africa into a better future. At VilaWorld International School, we are shaping minds to go further, think deeper, and rise higher.I invite you to join us on this journey.
